21. What is the best way to train?
Good preparation is different for everyone. What works for you depends on your aptitude, build, athletic background, and of course, the time you can and want to dedicate to training. Therefore, we can’t tell you the best way to train. However, we do have a few tips for good preparation:
- Build in regular training sessions. This way, your body gets used to a regular rhythm, and you’ll find it becomes easier and easier to start training.
- Build up gradually. If you don’t exercise much or at all, it’s unwise to suddenly train three or four times a week. Build up gradually, allowing your body to adjust to the exertion.
- Start early. To build up gradually and still be sufficiently prepared, it’s best to start training at least 10 weeks before the competition (in the case of a Sprint).
- Find a training schedule that suits you. Of course, you can also decide for yourself how you want to train, but it can be helpful to have some guidance.
